If you’re wondering how to know if you need therapy, it’s important to recognize that many people underestimate the benefits and helpfulness of therapy, which can hinder their healing progress. Common thoughts include, “My problems are not that bad,” or “I'm not crazy; only crazy people need therapy.” Some might feel embarrassed to seek help, thinking they should be able to figure things out on their own. If you’ve been going back and forth on whether to pursue therapy, it might be worth giving it a try.
If you’ve ever felt anxious, depressed, overwhelmed, angry, or stressed, or if you're dealing with relationship or family difficulties, struggling with boundaries, experiencing trauma, or grappling with grief, therapy could be a beneficial space for you. Remember, seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness, and it can provide valuable support on your journey toward healing and personal growth.

If you're curious about what therapy is like, most often, clients meet with me on a weekly or every other week basis. As a new client, I strongly recommend starting with weekly or biweekly sessions to establish a solid foundation, adjusting the frequency as needed over time. Standard therapy sessions typically last about one hour, ranging from 53 to 60 minutes.
The number of sessions you might need can vary greatly depending on factors such as your presenting issues, your goals for therapy, and both client and therapist availability. Some clients may meet weekly for a few months, while others might continue with sessions for close to a year. Throughout the process, we can discuss decisions about the frequency of sessions and when it might be appropriate to conclude therapy, often referred to as termination or graduation. Ultimately, the decision is collaborative, and your preferences and progress are central to our work together.

This means that your personal information will not be disclosed without your consent, except in specific circumstances mandated by legal statutes, such as cases of child abuse or if there’s a risk of harm to yourself or others. If any information needs to be shared, it will only be released if you sign a release of confidential information (ROI). Your privacy and trust are of utmost importance, and we strive to create a safe space for you to share openly.

If you need to cancel or reschedule your session, please reach out to your therapist at least 24 hours in advance. You can contact them via phone, email, or text. If you're running late, just let them know, and they’ll work with you to find the best solution. Please be aware that, unless there’s an emergency, a fee may be charged for late cancellations or no-shows. Your therapist will provide details about their cancellation policy to ensure you’re informed.
